Today's assignment

Hi everyone,

Please complete the following today.

1. Watch the video 4 and 5 videos on your desktop dealing with content aware and then do it yourself using the files in the folder.

2.google the following magazine covers People, sports illustrated, GQ, Parents, Time
Then answer the following questions here on the blog.
A. What do you notice about the magazine covers in general?
B. What can you say about the fonts/text on the covers? Are they all the same color? Same font? Etc
C. Are they interesting? Explain why it is or isn't?
D. What difference do you see about the variety of covers?

Start taking inventory of what you like and dislike because you will be creating your own magazine cover by the end of the week.

Assignments working with selection and transform tools

So we have spent time working with selection tools, the rectangle marquee, ellipitical marquee, magic wand, quick select, lasso and magnetic lasso.  In addition, you worked with the content aware tool.

You also worked on the transform tool, which adjusted the size of the image/layer you are working with.  You can do this my using the command T keyboard command or go to the menu bar and click
 edit  > transform > scale

Your next two assignments are going to use these skills to create a picture. 

1.  Put yourself there 

Find a photo of a place you would like to visit or be at, making sure to use your skills and tools in google image to find a large file.  

Take a picture of yourself, using the built in camera on your computer, your phone or a camera.  Upload or email yourself the photo so you may use it in photoshop. 

Then you will add yourself into the background and use selection and transform tools to make it look like you were actually there.  No worries about the possible lighting issues or color issues, we will get to how to fix these next week. 

2. Me and Me Pictures 

This is a project where you are doing something to or for yourself.  For example, you are handing yourself a book, or helping yourself off the floor.  This can be a little more challenging since you have to think about how you will set yourself up on both sides to achieve a realistic photo in the end.  Be creative!! 

Selection tools continued

There are a number of ways to select images in Photoshop.  We have spent the past few days learning about the rectangular and elliptical marquee tools, the lasso tool, the magic wand and the quick selection tools.  Today you are going to watch some video tutorials on how to use the content aware tool.
